Small Hydroelectric Power Plant Potamia
Date: 2024
Location: Mikrolivado, Grevena
Power: 1,64 MW
Technology: Hydroelectric
The electromechanical equipment of the power station is housed in a building of about 120 m² and includes a vertical-axis Pelton turbine with six nozzles, a 2,100 kVA synchronous generator, a 2,100 kVA transformer, an electrohydraulic governor, automation systems, and low- and medium-voltage switchboards.
The intake structure consists of a small overflow weir, 2 meters in height, equipped with Coanda-type screens. The penstock, with a total length of 3,500 meters, is made of GRP and divided into three equal sections with diameters of 900 mm, 800 mm, and 700 mm, respectively. A 30-meter section near the powerhouse is constructed from spiral-welded steel pipe.
The entire length of the penstock—except for the stream crossing—has been installed underground. The largest portion (approximately 2,800 meters) follows a forest road, ensuring minimal visual impact on the surrounding environment.
